Ooh - a Blog - what to write...... :)

Well, had the sudden urge to write a blog. Might add to it, might not... Time will tell.

My main reason for the emergance of this, is my upcoming operation.

For those not in the loop, I was diagnosed as having Basal Cell Carcinoma back in Novemeber. Skin cancer. Just a tiny spot on my nose. Basal Cell Carcinoma just sits there and grows bigger on itself and doesnt spread to anywhere else. Simple enough to get rid of (so I thought) - chop it out, sew it up, pub. That was my original aftercare plan when I went for what I thought was going to be my operation in December. My surgeon had other ideas though. He saw where it was and did what plumbers do when the job is going to cost a lot and usse the words "I don't have the parts on the van!"....

When removing the cancer, they have to cut 5mm around the outer edge to make sure it is all gone. The problem with that in my case, is that that comes off the edge of my oversized nose

That's it. the little tiny spot on my nose. So, in 2 weeks time, they will be cutting it out, taking a bit of cartlidge from my ear to rebuild my nose, then taking a flap of skin from my cheek and folding it over to cover my nose hole.

I am not worried too much about the op at the moment (ask me again on the morning of though!) - it's just the down time I will have to deal with. I have been told I can't sweat into the wound where possible. No gym (and thats become part of my routine in the past 12 months) and NO DRUMMING! Arseburgers. Still, gotta be done.

I'll update this when I feel the need to articulate some more.
